The 2010 Holidays by Design party was a tremendous success, if we can judge by the number of people who showed up. Held in a large vacant space next to Panache on the Country Club Plaza, there were enough people to fill it up and enjoy the cocktails and wonderful food on offer from Californos, Deco Catering, Grand St. Cafe, Moxie Catering, Scrape the Plate Catering, Savor Studio Catering, Starker’s Restaurant and Taste Catering.
There were over 100 gorgeous Christmas wreaths and other pieces of art up for auction, from well-known people such as Peregrine Honig and Whoopi Goldberg as well as many other talented artists from Kansas City and from around the country. There was a very cool painting donated by Overland Park artist Jeff Hanson, whose work has been bought by people such as Elton John, Billy Joel and Warren Buffett.
And be sure to check out the amazing gingerbread house, made from real food! I can verify this, because it made me very hungry when I leaned in to photograph it. It smelled as good as Murray’s Ice Cream shop.
The party ran from 7:00 to 10:00, and the place was still quite full when 10:00 rolled around! I think they could have kept it going until midnight, as much fun as everybody was having.
